The Dandelion ღ KKD ღ

A Poem by Donna DeLong Matthews aka Gold Pen Ghost

The Dandelion

Life takes in a breath
then its forcefully blown
The little fairies are cast out
with no will of their own

Not knowing where the wind will lead
Not really caring the destination
its all about survival
and self preservation

They drift ... They float
and when almost touching ground
then comes another of life's wind
and off they go without a sound

What is their purpose
in life as they go
Why at day's end
they've nothing to show

What is their purpose of existence
What is the point of their life
When each night and day
is only filled with loneliness and strife

There is no reward
There is no place to set down
Never knowing top from bottom
when their world stays upside-down

In the dark of night
you think they could rest
but this the time
of their hardest test

They float off to foreign spaces
no want of tomorrow to see
The dandelion in true life
is the self image of me

Hello Donna,
This is an awesome metaphoric poem you have written here.I think a lot of people may feel this way at some point in their life when it is filled with chaos for whatever reason.Maybe this undying wind is God's will letting the dandelion see all of its choices before allowing it to plant its seed and live long and prosperous.
Thank you for sharing this thought provoking poem with us and keep up the great work.

Beautiful as always Donna.....The dandelion in you keeps spreading over my life, and I wouldnt have it any other way. When you spread yourself around my Dear, its that many more lives that you touch....:"))

This brings back all the childhood memories of when I would run after dandelions, hardly ever catching any of their elusive silver magic, and when you do, relief empties inside of you, and you'd say to yourself: "Now what?"

Very beautiful poem. I love the way you bring out the meaning of the dandelion, drifting in time forever, alone. It really took this poem's magic, along with the soothing background music, to remind me of the childish innocence it seems I have already lost.

Great work!

Hi Donna,
So many thoughts expressed here touch my heart but this "Never knowing top from bottom
when their world stays upside-down" speaks volumes in its gentle whisper.
Your opening and conclusion is in perfect symmetry of thought. A stunning poem and presentation.

hugs and blessings,
Sandi
