A Poem by Donna DeLong Matthews aka Gold Pen Ghost

Caught In the Hand of Time

I wish upon tomorrow
and learn from today,
but life to be a bit easier
to my Savior I do pray

The daily struggles I have to endure
and I'm not one to normally whine
but why must it always seem
As though I am caught in the Hand of Time

Not able to move forward
Not wanting to retrace
but caught with in a day
fearing to embrace

But wishing for tomorrow
would it be a better day
or would I find myself longing
to be back in yesterday

Am I asking to much
for not to be alone
and a little peace and fairness
when I venture from my home

The harder I push forward
the further back I seem to go
Most days are an endless struggle
never obtaining the next plateau

My faith in Him
is strong and secure
but why is a better earthly life
always so obscure

My precious Savior
to me your word is gold
but why is my existence
so lonely, chilling and cold

In my walk through life
no matter where I may stray
I'm always back at where I began
in The Day After Yesterday
