Why Do You LieA Poem by Donna G. CooperA poem inspired by actual events. Why do you lie and expect me to trust again When I found out the truth I knew Had never really been.
Why do you lie and expect me to forgive When my world was upended and I was afraid to even live.
Why do you lie and still ask for my love When thats all I ever gave you Yet you reigned down on me from above.
Your love is worthless to me Mine, destroyed by every breath You used against my every thought Until my only thought was death.
Yours or mine, it didn't matter which As long as the fear you nurtured inside my mind a frightening world by your design, was quieted Till nothing remains of the love you maligned. © 2008 Donna G. CooperAuthor's Note
