THE PROUD OLD LIONA Poem by Donna LorenzThe fuzzy faced human kindThe Proud Old Lion
When I told him I loved him The relationship changed, The fuzzy faced lion Was gently tamed.
Love is a powerful Force for us all, Especially an old lion Still strong and so tall.
With a heart for animals, “Wreck” is the Great Dane He has sheltered this week, A dog, once again.
Wreck is 18 months old, ailing too The fuzzy faced man is creating a zoo! Life is not perfect at his home it seems But whose life is, except in their dreams?
Must give the dog medicine Both morning and night, Forepaws on the keyboard When he attempts to write.
How can you help but love such a lion His ways are his own with a center so finite, A gentle soul with such a big heart, There is only one way to tame this delight!
I can’t wait until the end of the week. When I feel my lips on his fuzzy cheek, And check out the muscle tone of his body And see the strength his workouts have brought him.
Like a proud old lion still fighting for his pride His prowess is back, can’t be denied. As a faithful lioness I stand aside And admire the greatness in his pride.
For he has earned and it is sweet To feel my lips upon his cheek.
