Snuffles FriendsA Poem by Donna LorenzTake a walk with my Shi TzuSNUFFLES FRIENDS . Snuffles has lots of friends Everywhere we walk. Whimpers behind a wooden fence At times the only way to talk. . Rascal is special, a Pomeranian is he, But Snuffles really likes them all, Their gender does not matter Not if very long or even rather tall. . We go walking at the break of day. When the first light hits his eyes, He’s ready to go for that morning walk, Wakes mom, and to Teddy says goodbye. . Now, this is a big event for a dog At the break of day and sundown too. He says hello to Pacho, they dance Pacho’s hair kept cut in a crew. . Pacho is another Shi Tzu With his mom and dad in toe, Kindred spirits, Oh my yes! But after the dance we must go! . At the park he leads me A female Poodle lives near. Just one sniff was all it took For him to never forget her! . Now, further down the sidewalk Is a house where Gabby lives. She sits on the window seat like ours, A lean and lovely Basset Hound, she is. . You hear her deep throated Woof As Snuffles peeks through the fence, She sits on the window seat waiting But is rarely in his presence. . As we continue our walk it is clearly Not mine, but his time of day. There are things he must do but with Little black bags scooped away. . There are more homes he must check out, The Pekinese and of course big brown dog. He sniffs their fences for signs To see if their traces were logged. . There is a Jack Russell, Bo Bo, The cocker Spaniel Lacey I believe, How could I forget Bailey? The beautiful Golden Retriever. . Snuffles is just a dog you see His life is simple, well spent. He is blessed with love and truly adored And can't pay one cent for rent!
