THE FAMILY TABLE

THANKSGIVING MEMORIES

.

The memories we share.

From the time the girls were small,

The turkey on the table,

And the smells to tempt them all.

.

Grandma and gramps are there

To see the children once again.

We enjoy the holiday so much

Just to feel the warmth within.

.

Pies lined up on the counter

Pumpkin, Apple, and Pecan too.

Bellies full of so much food,

What are little kids to do?

.

So we feast at the table,

Dessert could wait a little while.

We just take the goodness in

Leave the table with a smile.

.

They are grown now and it goes on,

Just a little bit askew

Kids grown, still come to moms house,

But that moms no longer you.

.

You are the grandma at the table

With your knife and fork in hand.

You, no longer the mother

They now refer to you as GRAND.

.

It is still very pleasant

To feel the warmth within.

The family all together

Just enjoy it with a grin.
