The Stars

The Stars

The Stars

Looking at all the stars,

was his favorite pastime.

They were easy to see,

when the Sun didn’t shine…

So when work was done,

he’d pause just to look…

Some stars would twinkle,

Some were quite bright,

Some seemed quite distant,

yet many were slight.

~

And often the Sun rose,

while he still gazed at them.

Still, without any rest,

more often than not…

the new day began,
and he’d do a lot.

But all through the day,
He would think of tonight.

… He’d have one more chance;

to Look down at the Earth…

And watch you and me!

This had the rhythm and rhyme of a doggerel, well done, Donn, I like poems with versification. For Aristotle, the cosmos ended with the outermost aether sphere, which contained the stars and rotated at a rate of approx. once per day, carrying all the other heavenly bodies with it. Outside the sphere was nothing, not even empty space. Medieval theologians and writers such as Dante in his Divine Comedy reconciled this Aristotelian picture with Biblical accounts of heaven and hell by placing hell in the center of the earth and by adding a last, unmoved sphere, the empyrean heaven containing the souls of the blessed. Catholic Church thinks even today the earth is center of the universe and sun is rotating around it. And so do, many its believers.

it amazes me, the way you are able to capture such a simpistic nature
and yet makeit such a show of force, this is touching, the voice and consistancy in tone paved the way for the description that perfectly defines the meaning, the reader can feel and see the wonder of the stars in your words, heart touching, does create a memory, keep up
the excellence.
