Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope

A Poem by Sean Allen

Not pleased with her existence…

She stares into her mirror,
and smashes her palm
into the image that is in it.

Claret red blood runs
slowly down to her elbow
and drips onto her dresser.

“What is it?” she thinks aloud.
“What is it that is so special
about my stupid life?”

The multicolored pictures
that she now sees before her
are a beautiful self portrait.

This girl has many facets.
More than his silly diamond,
no, even more than that…

as many as her broken mirror.

Interesting, I was just talking to a girl who was distraught about the fact that she exists, etc. This poem was kind of a deja vu experience (if that makes sense?).

I've read this a few times and I've been wondering; is breaking the mirror is a literary symbol? Are you trying to show that misfortune lies in her future?

This is an other great poem.
I marvel at your cleverness, and how you made this painful
moment and emotion into poetic form.
You are able to use the perfect words to give tangible imagery.
It was as if the reader is standing in the room...helplessly.
You are a writer for writers.

It is new to me. A beautifully complex and complete portrait of a young woman. I'm glad to see your words this morning.

Hello donn, i know this poem, I reviewed it once, can it be? With this blackberry I can't see. Very sensitive portrait of teenage and it reveals the fact that beauty is transient. I loved it.
Thanks for taking time and reviewing Golden Cage. Much appreciated. Best, L.
