A Touch from God

A Touch from God

A Poem by Sean Allen

A touch from God

A silver snowflake was once born,
on a cold and happy Christmas morn.

And God spoke to this newest child,
telling ‘bout about the meek and mild.

So high in the clouds, up in the sky,
this newborn crystal starts to fly.

To do God’s will and make Him proud,
this tiny flake has left its cloud.

And towards the Earth it travels through
ten billion flakes, on a course that’s true.

Yes each flake’s different from the rest,
can this one somehow pass God’s  test?

And as it drifts down towards the Earth
it’s searching for something of worth.

Through wind and ice the flake does sail,
God’s mission this flake will not fail.

At last it spies what it does seek….
and it comes to rest upon your cheek.

I really liked this piece. The depiction of our Lord, a single snowflake on it's journey to earth is quite beautiful. The power of it fighting it's way through clouds and ten billion flakes, making it's way here, and coming to rest on the cheek....all of this rings true of the power of faith and hope. Things that are needed more than ever in this day and age. This poem portrays a gentleness and softness of giving ourselves to our Creator. Quite nice, Sean.
