Warm Pink

Warm Pink

A Poem by Sean Allen
"

What is that in the mist?

"

Warm Pink

I look from you, blushing warm pink
and
your nakedness enthralls me.
I glance back towards
your intrigue
and thoughts of adventure fill me.

Through the mist, I come to feel
your thoughts reach into my soul.
You give me gold and onyx stone.
Are we not one, nor I part of
you?

But I cannot resist looking at
you,
what is this strange power
you have?
Now it rushes through my body,
I feel shame and look away again.

There are others here like
you,
but they are just not the same.
This time I stare into
your eyes,
yet
your voice still calls out to me.

I suddenly feel the warm breeze
brushing across my own body
while I look at
your soft hands,
still it is
your tender touch I desire.

I become dizzy; I am so confused
looking back towards
your beauty
and then again staring at
your face.
I somehow have the same feelings.

Reaching out to gently caress
you,
I am teased with
your charms.
I am confused by a subtle stranger
asking what harm could
you bring?

I do not know what I should do.
He said not to taste of your fruit,
but the stranger says that I should,
and I so crave to feel
your pleasure.

Ah, I think, I might give it to
you,
a forbidden fruit of my own desire.
I pick
your fruit and hand it to you.
We taste it, and I blush warm pink.

Author's Note

Sean Allen
It was the greatest of American writers, Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) who was quoted as saying that “Man is the only animal that blushes, or needs to.”

In Warm Pink, Adam, and Eve are standing in the garden in front of the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Several people have asked about the significance of the Red and Blue text…

Eve who is telling the story is looking at the tree, represented by the Red “You and Yours” in the poem. She realizes that she wants more than the animals, which simply reproduce, but give no thought of the future. Perhaps she desires even more than the Man that God had given her as a mate.

Adam, represented by the Blue “You & Yours” is certainly beautiful to Eve. He delights her, he has given her everything she needs, and she wonders why she is still not satisfied with him. Then glancing back at the tree, she wonders again as she desires to gain more knowledge.

So the entire poem is just Eve’s thoughts as she looks back and forth between the tree and the man.

At the end, Eve gives the fruit to Adam, not because God said not to or because the Serpent tempted her, but because she hopes that Adam will understand what she wants.

If Mark Twain was to read this poem, however, he probably would not even wonder about the significance of the colors… Because Samuel Clemens was color blind!

I am going to try this again...
I just reviewed it and it disappeared. I hope that I can capture that feeling again.
I do remember that I couldn't feel a rhythm or hear music while reading this.
It was the first time that I can remember ever having this experience.
There have been poems that I have read that were too dark (for me) and I could
still hear and feel a beat/rhythm. It didn't have that but it was something
else that I cant put my finger on...like a tone that was felt. I was totally
into the celestial-like spiritual dance/play...it is so enticing, but real. I know this
alluded to the original and first command not to touch/eat the forbidden fruit, but I find this
even more applicable today.
wonderfully penned!!

Hmmmmm, this is very multi-leveled. It could be of anything yet I think towards the end you almost spoke of Adam and Eve in the garden....wanting the fruit they were not allowed....I am probably wrong but that is the image i got......i like the font coloring as well

This has an ethereal lyricism that is very enchanting. I love the "Adam-like" viewpoint here. It may be the oldest story, but it can be retold again and again and still be fresh.
