Where Kitties Go

Where Kitties Go

A Poem by Sean Allen
"

We just lost our other cat TJ who had been Kit's best friend and adopted son. Kit passed away last year. This morning my wife said she missed TJ so I told her where kitties go.

"

There is a place where kitties go,
and I hear it’s very nice…
they say it’s full of balls of string,
and stitched up catnip mice.

One table holds a goldfish bowl,
another, things unknown…

Where paws are searching desperately,
until they’re finally shown…

as the people who they cared about,
but had to stay behind…
send out their thoughts across the miles,
and the kitties… that love they find.

They run and frolic all day long,
and never take a break…
their people gave them silly names,
like Mortimer and Jake.

Though no one ever owns a cat,
a feline keeps its name…
just to let us think that we’re so smart,
they’re in charge all the same.

So off they go all playfully,
the young ones chasing old…
there is a place where kitties go,
‘least that’s what I’ve been told!

What a wonderful poem...kitties running and frolicking all day long...I can see them with their balls of string and catnip mice...

But is the only a place for good kitties...?

A strong echo of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, but far more playful, affectionate and tender than Eliot could ever manage.

Yes, I think so too. Enjoyed reading this little delightful poem of the place specially for kitties and a cats, and dogs and fish (and birds too). Very nicely written and the title completes it purrfectly.
