Mother Of Mine...

Mother Of Mine...

A Poem by [ x ] Mayo [ x ]
"

"Mother Of Mine.."

"

i have many friends

but there is one person i cannot please

i've done everything to befriend her

minus getting on my hands and knees

we used to get on fine

like mothers and daughters are suposed to

but then she went all funny

stopped serving chiken, now only tofu

She doesnt actually speak to me

she talks through her eyes

"are you really gonna eat that?!"

she askes silently with her sighs

she is always around

im never on my own

watching over every meal

constantly telling me i've grown

every night on the scales

the line goes down and down

but everytime i lift a fork to my mouth

deeper goes her frown

i yearn to see a smile on her face

or to just hear her say shes proud

but the only thing i hear everyday

is my stomach, growling loud

Great metaphor for what you didn't say in this piece, how many of us have lived with this mother, and shared your confusion and neglect...making us too thin. Great piece!
