Lunch

Lunch

A Poem by Don Schaeffer
"

a prayer

"
The background noise:
.
the choir,
Todah I heard
your voices and prayed
.
on the crashing of pots,
the roaring of trucks
Halleluyah
.
and there was so much
of life in it, more than
remaining years.
.
I felt like shouting with glee
but dared not. There were
too many years in the room.
.
It was a prayer of thanks,
Todah for tumult.
And the hearing aid would squeal
whenever I would smile.
