A Burnt Match

On the floor of my room
today I found a burned match
that could come only from
the future or the past
time of matches.
Who dropped it here?

I turned to phantoms,
confounding mystery.
I waited for the facts
to be revealed, half in anticipation
and half in terror. And so
it is the world now joins those two feelings
as it comes to an end.
