Visual ResponseA Poem by Alena Stubbsa poem written around a painting called a clearing a winter stormClouds roll through the valley, Coolness spreads through the air. Trees capped in ice, Mountains frosted in snow. Green turns to white. Ice spills over the lip of the mountain, Shards of icy glass fall on the trees below. The sun dips behind the mountain, Taking cover from the night. Darkness falls from the sky, sinking down Settling on the land, nothing to be seen. A layer of darkness atop a layer of snow. Day turned into night, sun into moon. The silence of night was deafening, Coldness and quietness, nothing more. Dark and cold. Cold and dark. Day has succumb to night, Summer has succumb to winter. Winter has taken over the land, Transforming everything around.© 2016 Alena Stubbs |
