Silent Laughs

Silent Laughs

A Poem by Dominique Lambright
"

Laughs in the distance at the foolish love

"
Do you feel it
Those faded memories
And mistrusted words
The ones you spoke that night
All meant nothing when the sun rose
I took flight with how good they sounded
You made me laugh and blush
The speech you made gave me hope
But in the background they're laughing
At me for trusting your words
For searching for the light in the dark
Seeing the signs and only ignoring
It seems as though I'm lost
In this struggle for your love
When I shouldn't have to compete
They know what it is but still in the game
You can't imagine the embarrassment
The frustration of being a joke
The disrespect I receive for loving
Only wanting peace to come to my heart
No more worry is all I wish
The commitment I seek
Is all too simple
Those silent laughs you will never hear
But I know them all too well

Thank you, this is probably the most emotional one of the three "silent"
