Heart Open; Arms Out

Heart Open; Arms Out

A Poem by Dominique Lambright

Vulnerability

"

Heart Open; Arms Out

Tears flowing from my eyes

Blurred vision, loose ends, no ties

Does it really end this way?

Am I not meant to be happy?

I know we aren’t always 100% sappy

But I love the imperfect us

So what if we fuss

It happens; it’s a part of life

If we didn’t it wouldn’t be real

You did hurt me though; I didn’t see it coming

Like the grim reaper cut me with his syfe

For you to say what you did was unreal

It’s like you were summoning

All the anger you possibly could

But you don’t want to talk like we should

The yelling and screaming

I hate to be angry with you

But when you disrespect me like you’re superior

That irritates me so

You say it’s over

You’re not meant for one

It’s not true because you did it for this long

But your anger clouds everything

Being in love changes a person

You know just as well as I

And you feel when it’s right

As I sit here with my eyes filled with tears

All I can do is think of what’s going on in your head

Will you apologize and take back?

Will you want me back?

Will you allow us to continue this life together?
