Roses are Red, Violets aren't Blue

Roses are Red, Violets aren't Blue

A Poem by Dominique D'Arcy
"

A romantic parody of Roses are red and Violets are blue.

"
Roses are red.
Violets aren't blue.
But these are sweet Lilies,
Just like you.

Flamingoes are pink,
And doves are white.
My love for you,
is brighter than light.

Pumpkins are orange,
And peas are green.
Let me treat you,
Like a queen.

When leaves turn gold,
Or crisp and brown,
It's time to buy,
Your bridal gown.

Before the times go black,
Or a grievous grey,
Today will be,
Our special day.

So off we go,
Towards the sun,
You will always be,
My Only One.

Does this poem flow? Are there any places that don't seem to fit? Is my grammar correct? What do you think of it in general? Was it too sappy?
