A poem for thanking

A poem for thanking

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

I came out with this after noticing i do pray only for asking ... but never for thanking !! I should be grateful for what God gave me :)

"
God I want to thank you,
I want to thank you for these beautiful days,
I want to thank you for listening with patience to all of my prayers,
for giving me strength to face challenges when i am with you.
God i thank you,
I thank you for the food i eat,
I thank you for the oxygen i breathe,
I owe everything to you.
Thank you, Lord, for my wonderful mother,
Thank you for have given us the life's blessing,
God please, open the gates of heaven for my dear father.
I usually call your name for asking,
but this time another thing i want to do rather,
I'm not here for asking, my Lord, but simply for thanking.

Ok, so in the second verse of the last stanza: I know rather comes after want but i put it in the end to respect the rhyme scheme (ABBA ACCA DED EDE).
Tell me your opinions :)

I am a Christian and I do believe in God.

I, too, often find myself only praying when in need and this is a wonderful, beautiful poem. Thank you for it!

You have such a flowing piece here, and your writing style really speaks to me here. Wow!

:)

This is a very sincere and gorgeous poem, especially liked the last line it made me think about my prayers. Thank you for sharing.

P.S. strength is spelled wrongly. :p

Scheme Schmeme. Dominic, you are such a great kid who really gives a rat's tuckus. it is the words, the thoughts that make this a great piece. I usually never ask for anything but strength to set a christian example, figuring everything else will take care of itself. If I were to ask for anything, it would be a trip to tour the Tuscan countryside and tasting of the wines and meeting of the people there. Thanks for sharing this :)

A beautiful poem of thankfulness. We need to be thankful for good health and a new day. I like the entire poem. Gave me hope. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

I love this piece. I often try to say quiet prayers of thanks instead of asking for a plethora of things. :) Enjoyed this very much. Très Bien!
