L'infanzia ricordata (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

Hope you like it :)

"
I miei stanchi occhi da maturando
Assistono in una tipica mattinata
A una scena che riscalda il cuore
Più di questo sole estivo di Giugno:

Un padre al tavolo accanto
Gioca con la figlia alle bambole,
Le dedica tutto il suo tempo,
Tutte le sue sincere attenzioni.

In un breve intenso secondo
Penso alla mia lieta infanzia,
Alla mia cara Copacabana
Ed ecco che

Le onde di un mare lontano
Risvegliano nella mia mente
Il ricordo dell'eco paterno:
"Domenichino, Domenichino".

Title: The remembered childhood

My tired school leaver's eyes
Watch in an ordinary morning
A scene that warms hearts
More than this June's summer sun:

A father, at the next table,
Plays dolls* with her daughter,
He dedicades her all his time,
All his honest attentions.

In a short intense second,
I think of my happy childhood,
To my dear Copacabana*
And suddenly

The waves of a far sea
Awake in my mind
The memory of the patenal's echo:
"Domenichino, Domenichino"*.

Play dolls= Dropped the "with" in both Italian and English (making a grammar mistake, sorry) not to have too many "with"s in the same verse.
Copacabana = A neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro
Domenichino = Italian diminutive of my name Domenico.

外人 (Gaijin)
Written this while getting ready for my high school final exams. I had breakfast at a local cafe and I saw a father playing with his daughter, it inspired me this :)

this is a lovely sentimental write, so appropriate for this time of year as the seasons change. That last stanza
The waves of a far sea
Awake in my mind
The memory of the patenal's echo:
"Domenichino, Domenichino"*.

that's especially nice.

Beautiful memory and story in the poem. I like the use of both languages. I do use the translator if I can. Good memories and thoughts become better with time. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
