Lode a Piazza Navona (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

A poem about my favourite place in Rome, hope you like it :)

"
Rieccomi a piazza Navona,
fra flash lontani che invano
cercano di catturarne l'incanto,
qui ogni lingua piacevole suona
dalle voci confuse di turisti
che riempiono e svuotano,
con le loro mappe e zaini imbottiti,
la grande piazza, più volte al giorno.
Rieccomi ad ammirare le tre fontane
che fra il fruscio dell'acqua raccontano
la loro eterna muta storia, soltanto
all'occhio paziente che ascolta veramente.
TRANSLATION
Title: Praise to Navona Square
I'm back to Navona Square,
among distant flashes that try
in vain to catch its charm,
here every language sounds nice
from the confused voice of tourists
that fill and empty,
with their maps and rucksacks,
the big square, several times a day.
I'm back to admire the three fountains,
that over the rustle of water, tell
their eternal mute story, only
to the patient eyes that can really listen.
Capture my look and amazement
the giant chapel that stands on the center,
these pictures sold for few money,
outcome of the talented effort passion holds on.
Wave proudly the happy flag*
of the South-American colossus, giving
the sweet sensation of home, making
my heart beat in a way
a few lucky ones can understand.
Suddenly the wind speaks my language,
while my eyes get happy from seeing
the beautiful flag I'd give my life to.
Of all Rome, here's where I like staying,
in the shining baroque square
I decided to write these verses to,
and where, if I could, I'd go every hour.
*The flag I'm talking about is the Brazilian flag, Brazilian embassy in Rome is located in Navona Square.

Finally managed to write something in a different language from Portuguese (this poem is in Italian). Translation is not great, sadly I put some sentences I really struggled to translate into English.

It's great, the translation sounds fine. I understand *a little bit* of Italian, so I liked reading it, then seeing the translation :-)
Anyway, the poem really captures a certain type of feeling of being there. A few of the sentences really jump out and describe the scene perfectly. I especially like "among distant flashes that try in vain to catch its charm". You could have easily written "people taking pictures", but that's boring and dull :-p I liked it, thanks for sharing!

Excellent - one senses in your words the way you are torn between your birthplace and the country where you live, the way you react to the Brazilian flag. I understand this, as a emmigrant one tends to be very patriotic, and concentrate on the positive aspects of a lost homeland. We tend to idealise. Anyway, a very good poem that I like a lot.

The feeling coming back home refreshes the soul and delights to assure us secure and content. No other than the home-land can make us pride, nothing can surpass the emotion.Your return to Navona Square led you speak out such inner loveliness and attachment, could make anyone remember their lovable belongings far off them. The eternal mute becomes the vocal beauty. The essence of far home beckons the true love.KEEP WRITING
