Dezoito anos (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

Turning 18 in a couple of weeks, needed to stop for a while and think, the outcome of my thoughts is this ... hope you enjoy it ;)

"
Carrega-me vento, como um aviao de papel
por este mundo amargo, cruel, malvado sem mel,
cresci, vivi, aprendi mas onde estou? Quem eu sou?
E' isto vida ou uma peça? Sou publico ou ator?

Poucos dias e terrei dezoito anos,

Parece-me uma longa corrida,
nunca saboreamos seus acontecimentos.

Translation
Title: 18 years old

Carry me, wind, like a paper airplane,
through this bitter, bad, evil honey-free world,
I grew up, lived, learned but where am I? Who am I?
Is that a life or a play? Am I watching or playing?

In a few days I'll be eighteen,
so why can't I understand this world?
The more I try, the more I get misled,
I don't feel any wiser than a kid, at the end.

If I'm strong and skilled,
why can't I find peace?
I carry worries which are not mine,
do things I'm not interested in.

Is life really weird or
am I the one who doesn't get it?
It looks like a big race,
we never really taste its events.

Oh so many questions, in this poem. I often wonder the same things. Turning a different age and having many questions about things. I still have unanswered questions myself. Sometimes when you think you have your answer... it doesn't seem to be an answer after all and you still have your question, etc. I can't say how much I really like the thought in this poem. Can't pick any favorite part/lines either. It's all really good. So much curiosity.

life is a conglomeration of learned behavior, interpretations and events. it is all so confusing at the age of which you speak. i love the flavor of this write and it has a familiar ring to it...all of it...best i can tell you is to never be afraid of failing, always reach for the stars and believe in your dreams. nothing ventured...nothing gained. oh, and be sure to go to youtube and listen to Alice Cooper's song "eighteen"...my inspiration and rebellious theme song at that age...still relevant and a great tune!
