Dezoito anos (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

Turning 18 in a couple of weeks, needed to stop for a while and think, the outcome of my thoughts is this ... hope you enjoy it ;)

"
Carrega-me vento, como um aviao de papel
por este mundo amargo, cruel, malvado sem mel,
cresci, vivi, aprendi mas onde estou? Quem eu sou?
E' isto vida ou uma peça? Sou publico ou ator?

Poucos dias e terrei dezoito anos,

Parece-me uma longa corrida,
nunca saboreamos seus acontecimentos.

Translation
Title: 18 years old

Carry me, wind, like a paper airplane,
through this bitter, bad, evil honey-free world,
I grew up, lived, learned but where am I? Who am I?
Is that a life or a play? Am I watching or playing?

In a few days I'll be eighteen,
so why can't I understand this world?
The more I try, the more I get misled,
I don't feel any wiser than a kid, at the end.

If I'm strong and skilled,
why can't I find peace?
I carry worries which are not mine,
do things I'm not interested in.

Is life really weird or
am I the one who doesn't get it?
It looks like a big race,
we never really taste its events.

Oh so many questions, in this poem. I often wonder the same things. Turning a different age and having many questions about things. I still have unanswered questions myself. Sometimes when you think you have your answer... it doesn't seem to be an answer after all and you still have your question, etc. I can't say how much I really like the thought in this poem. Can't pick any favorite part/lines either. It's all really good. So much curiosity.

You are welcome
You're a young but brilliant thinker.
I so adored this. Because you're not afraid
Of looking inside your doubts, and wonders.
A beautiful piece my friend.
And yes with that special "Pathos" ;-)

excellent coming-of-age poem. it is natural to have fears and doubts during this time. learning about life is the toughest thing to do. don't needlessly worry about everything. it all falls into place despite pain and confusion. just be honest to yourself, you don't have to prove yourself to anyone.

Thank you :)
Its ok. I was pretty lost at 18. I am 27 and I still wonder about this crazy world we live in. I think part of life is accepting you can never know and its about learning the truth for yourself and what does your inner voice and your own inner light tell you what you should do. If you try to seek answers from the world of from anyone else for that matter you will ultimately falter. I had to learn that lesson myself many times over before it finally sunk in.

It takes many more than 18 yrs to grasp the complexity of life. Dont worry if we live long enough it comes to you

A fine poem to be enjoyed, and one that rings true ( in all senses ). I really like the first two lines, excellent imagery, then the short hard questions that follow. Not only a poem that impresses with insight, but one that shows you again to be a fine poet.
