Valentina - Part 1 (translation below)

Valentina - Part 1 (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

It's a long story, I'm in love with an engaged girl, Valentina ... had to get it off my chest :(

"
Se fosse pintor, a sua imagem pintaria,
à velha arte novo e maior esplendor daria,
ela è a musa de cada minha fantasia,
sua pele de bebe, tocar nao osaria,
duas lindas estrelas do céu caira'

pois outros labios ela prefere beijar.

Translation:

If I were a painter, her image I'd paint,
to the ancient arts new and higher grandeur I'd give,
she's the muse of all my fantasies,
her baby-like skin, I wouldn't dare touching,
two beautiful stars have fallen from sky
and landed in her girly eyes.

If I were a poet and words were my friends,
I'd use'em to give everlasting fame to her name,
she has the sly smile of a girl,
her wishes are orders, she's a queen,
princess' heart, fairy's sweetness,
everything she has, she doesn't lack of anything.

If I were a singer and my voice was pleasant,
I'd sing her my desperate love,
in every note of my guitar,
a verse of pure sentiment,
under her lighted window,
I'd cry the lyrics of a made-up song.

But none of these can help me,
because other lips she prefer kissing.

Indeed sad, though beautifully written about someone. Very sweet. Sometimes we love what we can't have.

Ciao,

I'm not great with Portuguese yet so I cannot help you there. But what I could understand and what I read later in the English poem was so beautiful..and so sad. This is vivid and heartwrenching.

Arrivederci!

Really good. Didn`t spot any mistakes in the English version - Portuguese I don`t understand. I really like the content, this conjunctive form ( were...) and the constant, well thought through structure ( singer, poet..) You did very well here.
