Um Real pelo teu pensamento (translation below)

Um Real pelo teu pensamento (translation below)

A Poem by 外人 (Gaijin)
"

Just a poem I came up with in my mother tongue, Portuguese :)

"

Certamente nao a mim, embora tao ardentemente o desejo,

TRANSLATION
Title: One Real* for your thoughts

One Real* for your thoughts,
what are you thinking about?
If I could read it and record
in letters, I'd publish a wonderful book,
in notes, it'd be a bittersweet song for every heart.

Who knows what you hide? Reason or pure emotion?
Who do you dedicate your thoughts to, more beautiful than a thousand sonnets?
Definitely not to me, even though I want it so badly,
I can't boast such huge honor.

How happy I'd be if it were this way, even just for a hour,
in my mind your image is already living,
you're the reason of all my smiles, I think of you everyday.

So selfish on willing to know what you think,
Is there anything more private and confidential than what we think?

So, what about, one Real* for your angelic smile?

Real = It's the Brazilian money, for our fellow americans, one Real stands for 0,4965 dollars :)

Ah thank you for your definition of Real after the poem. There is something I do believe I didn't know. Interesting. As for the title, I have heard "a penny for your thoughts". I love the first stanza that starts off this poem. I like the questions in stanza two as well as this part here:
"Who do you dedicate your thoughts to, more beautiful than a thousand sonnets?"
Such a sweet write... enjoyed this very much. :)

I think this is really great, when I read it I think of the lyrics of Antonio Carlos
Jobim and the great recordings by Joäo and Astrud Gilberto, of sun, of beaches, bossa pure, Stan Getz, a real cracker of a poem....
