Wherever I go.

Wherever I go.

A Poem by Domenic Luciani

I want to see more.

More of the trees,

more of the streams.

More of the town where I grew up

More of the places I haven't seen

More of the people I loved

More of things I couldnt have even dreamed.

But that time has come and gone.

I cant see more.

not anymore.

I should have done it before.

Before the bullets and blood

before the death and tragedy

that seem to follow me

wherever I go.

This is really great - potent and with a softly contrite, longing tone.

A story with lots of meaning and feeling in only a few lines. Very well done. It has power to it. There is a tiny hint of rhyme which makes it very deliberate if that makes sense. I like the way you broke up the stanzas. Like I said, you should write more poems!

It would be a fitting epitaph for a soldier in Iraq

I like this.
There's a sense of remorse.
