Not Forgetting

Not Forgetting

A Poem by Brittany

Terrible thoughts are burning into the open gap of my breaking heart

I never thought the words could hit me so fast

Banging to the floor I now see the unspoken words of misery

Anxiously waiting to be felt so I can get back to love…

I’m slowly drifting a part from something I once knew…

The light in your soul is no longer dragging me back

I know the plan is already being thought out in your mind to see what else you can do

But you were once blind like I was, because you can’t see that I’m leaving you

So I’m struggling and running back home, not forgetting to place my heart somewhere new

I can’t believe my eyes couldn’t see what was right within you

There was no depth in who you were…for you showed your true colors

But I was still caught in the lies thinking you were everything but the cause of my pain

And so I carried on, still loving but breaking up inside, unconsciously falling

I’m slowly drifting a part from something I once knew…

The light in your soul is no longer dragging me back

I know the plan is already being thought out in your mind to see what else you can do

But you were once blind like I was, because you can’t see that I’m leaving you

So I’m struggling and running back home, not forgetting to place my heart somewhere new

All that I was is being burned into who I am now

Though my heart has a lost a part of what made it whole that doesn’t I’m the one who has the dirty soul

I’ll watch you think I’m still there, when within a moment I’ll be walking into new happiness revealing who cared

Grasp for air, allow your mind to twist and have your body ache

But none of that can put back together the love you always break

With me, with you, with the true innocence that once remained…

I’m slowly drifting a part from something I once knew…

The light in your soul is no longer dragging me back

I know the plan is already being thought out in your mind to see what else you can do

But you were once blind like I was, because you can’t see that I’m leaving you

So I’m struggling and running back home, not forgetting to place my heart somewhere new
