SchoolA Poem by Annabelle Lee
Desks stacked on either side of the hallway
The gym smells of a fresh layer of wax and wet paint Most lights are off, a few dead crickets in the hall This doesn't seem like school at all If I close my eyes I can remember Coming to school in sweatpants and UGGs last December I can remember walking down the hallway with my friends And waiting on our nine month sentence to end Missing the eighth graders I used to cheer with Randomly calling them up just to throw a fit "High School is so haaard" Surprised I made it this far In a month it all starts again And I can see all my old friends And the new ones that I've made this summer Hoping sophomore year is funner No enemies this year, now I've settled all my beefs Don't wanna have anyone mad at me Ready to open my new locker in the old hallway Head to the field smelling like grass and spray paint All the lights will be on and my friends in the hall
