![]() Dog With WingsA Poem by Annabelle Lee
Let me take off
Ruffle my feathers and soar I might trip out of the air But I swear, I'll be back for more This fox will have to leave the den I just began to realize that But foxes live all on their own They don't run with a pack The raven takes flight The fox runs for her life Each beautiful in their own way Each both predator and prey Stop trying to judge me I'm not what I seem You think you have an idea But I'm a dog with wings Don't try and see through this beast You won't get very far And rather than trying to clip my wings You should figure out who you are I'm a simple creature But a complex, beautiful being So stop trying to tame me I'm just a dog with wings I'm sick of seeing tadpoles thinking that they're bears They think they've got my species domesticated But they've no handle on theirs You want to be the top Any number of things But I'm fine with who I am A lonely dog with wings
