Mistakes And Yesterdays

Mistakes And Yesterdays

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

Nothing to do but lie awake
Reliving all my past mistakes
Examining old scars and brand new breaks
And remembering thousands of yesterdays
After Events of recent yesterdays
Wishing I could wink it all away
Start with a clean slate today
But I was far too afraid
To rekindle and rebirth the past mistakes
So I cannot fix the yesterdays
They will follow me far, far away
Have me bend and have me break
But I'm stronger now from all the mistakes
They don't make me who I am, though, I have to say
The mistakes do not define me today
And you should not care either way
Don't hate me because of all my past mistakes
And don't chase me with my yesterdays

Author's Note

Annabelle Lee
These assholes.... well really just one asshole keeps bringing up things like ex boyfriends and finding every bit of dirt he can scrape from the bottom of the barrel to make me feel lower than low. I hav aske him to stop, politely. Told him right out to shut the fuck up. And cried. A lot. I have never felt like such a girl.

I'd swear this piece is written by a much older woman than the teenaged Annabelle. I'm a grown man with a lot of grim memories and this strikes a chord with me. Outstanding work Annabelle
