Fair grounds in December

Fair grounds in December

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

Have you ever taken a walk
Through the fair gounds in December?
Seen snow on the ferris wheel
And the whole place is barren
The carousel not turning
Children not screaming and running
With sticky fingers
And sticky faces
No ring toss, no PLINKO
The round up won't spin
It's a sad sad sight
No games to win
The train's been lockd up,
The tracks a nightmare zone
Remembr hard enough and you may see
What the fair looks like when it's living
You'll see young couples, holding hands
Little kids lined up at the cotton candy stand
The whole place alive and aglow
But when the magic is gone
I don't want to go

A very nostalgic feel. I myself adore the fair, but I always end up feeling lonely by the end of the night because of all the adorable couples I see there and the fact that I'm always single. But the fair is very beautiful when it's all lit up and everything is moving along. The imagery given in your poem of the fairgrounds in the midst of winter is vastly different from the scene that awaits you when you normally go to the fair, and I think that's partially why this poem is so original and beautiful. The other reason for it's greatness, however, would have to be your skill. You are very talented!

I love going to the fair! Never been when it's deserted, though. Thanks for the trip!
