A Second

A Second

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

86,400
Seconds on a day
What is a second, anyway
A second is the amout of time it takes
For a boy to catch your eye
The amout of time it takes
To make him want to be your guy
The amout of time it takes
To realize you're in love
The amout of time it takes
To say you've had enough
A second is the amount of time it takes
To just want to be together
A second is the amount of time it takes
To lose it all forever
A second, the amount of time it takes to realize it was a big mistake
But then you realize that you might be
A second or two too late

I really liked this one Annabelle. A second can seems so insignificant and small, but can irrevocably alter the course of life. Not many your age who have the wisdom to realize this. Come to think of it, not many of ANY age have that wisdom.

At any rate, I really enjoyed this, not just for the message, but for the meter and rhyme as well. Good job!

What's in a second? A whole lot of stuff. A split second can make or break your life as your poem so eloqunently points out. Beautiful job Annebelle
