In the Next Chapter

In the Next Chapter

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

His face, wrinkled, and wizened with time
Boy do I love that Grandpa of mine
He may be sicker, his hair may be going
But his eyes still sparkle, his wit's never slowing
He's looking older by the minute, he's leaving us fast
But one thing we can do
Is remember the past
Remember him strong, remember him sturdy
Remember his jokes, remember him burly
I look at him now
It makes me sad
But I remember him then
And It's not so bad
His voice may change, but the same is his laughter
And we'll see him again
In the next chapter

I find your poem beautiful, special in its meaning as the ones we hold dearest pass all too soon. And while they may leave, you are quote correct in that we can remember them, in older better times. Because once their memories live in our heart, they do live on forever.and definitely " until the next chapter" .... Great sentiment expressed here!

Awwh! This poem holds so much raw emotions and a very powerful message behind it. For me, it is like saying hold onto the wonderful memories that you share with your family because one day they won't no longer be here. It hurts deep down to lose someone so dear and close to heart. I know how it feels and I'm sure a lot of others can relate to losing someone close too. I did lose my grandfather maybe five years ago from Cancer. We slowly watched him suffer and lose his bright glow like when he always lit up the room when he walked in. Like you said, it's good to remember him in the past when he was the strongest and how happy he was. My grandfather was even happy when he was so weak and suffering. That's what hurt even more. Thank you for sharing this poem to bring memories of me and him back into my mind! :)

I love this part:

"His voice may change, but the same is his laughter
And we'll see him again
In the next chapter" --Yes, you may in that wonderful palace we call Heaven! :)

Side note: Amazing! Continue writing and posting your beautiful work.
