Life Is Not Fair

Life Is Not Fair

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

A boy in our county passed away last night
I didn't know him, but I still cried
What force was compelled to take the life of a guy
Who was less than a whole year younger than I?

He was thirteen, just into the eighth grade
Riding around with his dad after a quiet Saturday
Something happened to the car, and the boy went
Out the window, across the pavement

They responded to the call
But they can't do it all
It was too late
And the boy met his fate

That could have been me, or one of my siblings
It could have been my friends, or anybody
Let his story remind all of you people out there
That you are not in control, and life is not fair

Author's Note

Annabelle Lee
... His dad made it, but now he gets to face something so much worse, I couldn't even imagine.

Guys, life's too short to be mad at people, or sulk because things aren't going your way.

Let this remind you that you need to take every trial and turn it into an adventure, take every mishap, make it a story. Don't wish your life away. And don't take each day for granted.

What's fair is ethics. Ethics is an invention of the cereberal cortex. What happens in real life, IE nature is neither fair or unfair because it happens in the randomness of three dimentional space and time. The truth is s**t happens and most of the time there is no reason.

I can imagine the pain you are going through. Sure, you may not of known him, but the shock is enough. It could of been anybody.

A classmate of mine died in Nov. 2011 from texting and driving. You just never know how much time you have....

Keep doing what you're doing,
Savannah
