A Prisoner Of My PastA Poem by Annabelle Lee
The waves crash up, against the rocks
I listen to the ocean as it talks As I look out on the vast blue waves I can hear what they all have said "Go back where you came from, you don't belong here," They think I'm different, they call me weird I try to jump, I want set free And I do, I tumble, down toward the sea Before I break the cool blue glass I awaken, free at last Then I go to school, and I joke around But I keep hearing that same old sound The wind in my ears, running through my bronze strands And I no longer want to be set free from my past
