While You CanA Poem by Annabelle LeeThere was a shooting somewhere in Colorado the other night A guy must have really hated his life He walks into a theater And just lets go He lets bullets fly At people he doesn't know I get up in the morning And prepare for my day While Mothers are crying Less than four hours away I put on my clothes And get ready for weights As other fourteen year old girls Fail to to see another day As other high school freshman Mourn their little brothers As parents and children Comfort one another I feel sick At the fact That I can whine about a curfew And some girls never made it back And this guy was just like your dad, or your brother He had a family He had a mother He went to school Just like you I don't understand What could've he been through? Just count your blessings as you get ready for church Kiss your children Before you leave for work Because tomorrow's not promised There may be no second chance Tell everyone you love that you love them While you can
