Deja VuA Poem by Annabelle Lee
I awaken on the couch
And roll over Dark hair a bit messy Big black hoodie And a pair of boxer shorts And all of a sudden I am taken back To another time Another place In my past I wake up and roll over I'm in that basement That served as our home It contained my soul For oh, so long There she lay on the couch Her dark hair is messy She wears a big hoodie And the TV is still on I stared into the face Of the woman, who Was my whole world A woman who, Was my own mother I admired the way Her ponytail let loose A few wisps of hair Framing the face, that was beautiful At the time A face that I thought Looked sort of like mine She awakens and smiles "Hey baby what's new?" And as I was set free from this Deja Vu I remember my next lines So clear, so distinct I remember saying, "Mommy, look, I'm just like you!" Please Free me from This Deja Vu
