Annabelle LeeA Poem by Annabelle LeeA rewrite of my namesake
It was about sevenish years ago
In a city by the sea
That a child there lived, by whom you may know As the little Annabelle Lee And this girl, she lived, with no other thought Than to live, there by the sea He was an infant, and I was a child In this city by the sea A tradgedy hit out of nowhere Ruining the life of Annabelle Lee With her heart that was broken into small pieces They took him away from me And the reason for this, was long ago In this city by the sea, As tradgedy hit, out of nowhere as said And took him away from me So that my infant brother left, To another home, far away from me And I shut up inside myself Trapped in a city by the sea I could be no more happy, not ever so relieved As when they reunited him and me Yes!- It was right I had my little bro In our city near the sea As the sun came out, and set at night Pleasing and teasing Annabelle Lee And our bond it is stronger by far than the bond Of those closer in age than we Of many far older than we And neither our mother, long after she'd gone Or the force that moves the sea Could ever dissever his soul from the soul Of that whom is known as me And the sun never shines without bringing my eyes Visions of my trap by the sea And the moon never beams without bringing me dreams Of that ocean once claimed by me As I stare at the sky I might even cry My prison, my cage, right by the tide And I will go back to finally free The childhood innocence of Annabelle Lee © 2012 Annabelle LeeReviews
