I Love Who I Am

I Love Who I Am

A Poem by Annabelle Lee
"

Call me crazy...

"
Two miles? And I do this for FUN?
I work my tail off, every day
Preparing myself for the big run

I constantly have my doubts and fears
When I ask myself,
"What am I doing here?"

I run til I'm dead
And go a little farther
Cuz it's all in your head

The truth is, it's not hard to explain
Why I put myself
Through so much pain

It's because, during the run
And a few moments after
I feel like I won

It doesn't matter what place I got
And I don't care how fast i ran
What matters is that for about fifteen minutes
I love who I am

Author's Note

Annabelle Lee
You see, I am a distance runner, and people like to think I am insane for it. But I love it. Because there is nothing like crossing the line, knowing you gave it your all. I love to be exhausted in that sense. When you run so hard you van't walk the next day... You can't help but be proud. That's where this one came from

I know what you mean--I used to do distance running myself, no less than three miles per day. I definitely know the exultation of crossing the finish line.

This is really expressive and I sense a vibe of freedom behind your words. Well written as well. Kudos
