I Am Here TodayA Poem by Annabelle LeeMy life in a nutshell
I was only about four years of age
On my little Brother's very first Birthday It was about two to three months after When I forgot there could ever be laughter Daddy always worked, supporting the wife and babies But mommy just quit taking care, she was getting lazy Four year old me And little Baby I had to feed and bathe us both Until Daddy finally came home Then came that fateful day Little Bro had to be rushed away He broke his head and that was the start Of the trials that were sure to break my heart Custody fights, accusations and foster mother But at least lil bro and I had each other Or not,he was all I had and they took him from me When our foster mother's son was caught smoking weed Can you imagine what that was like, to be a little girl Feeling so angry at the entire world? I wanted to be like the other girls But I had lived in a different world Don't worry I'm back and it's all okay Cuz all that matters is I'm here today
