Plain

Plain

A Poem by Dogkeeperno6
"

Her face was nothing exciting.

"

Her face was nothing exciting.

Dark brown hair the color of moist soil,

Not chocolate.

Eyebrows so dark that she plucked the hairs-

like irritating little weeds- every week.

A smattering of freckles,

Not enough and also too many.

A short nose very typical

Of Irish descent.

Normal lips, not too colorful,

Nothing particularly kissable.

A strong stout chin

that runs in her blood.

Only her precious piercing green eyes stood out.

I love how raw and open your poem is.
"A smattering of freckles,
Not enough and also too many."
This is such a perfect verse that speaks to me about the annoyance of mediocrity. Sometimes we forget that poetry isn't tied only to the celebration of the extraordinary and beauty, poetry is also about the simplicity of ordinary life, and ordinary people.
I love the little sweet touch at the end.
