Mermaid

Mermaid

A Poem by Destiny
"

Meeting an ethereal being

"
The legends I heard
Warned me of the Siren
But she is just as mistreated
As you and I were

When I'm in her presence
The breeze lifts the bumps on my neck
As if a whisper in my ear
Follows each of our steps

The shine in her eyes
Matches the levity in her smile
And both bathe me in sunlight
I breathe deep as the waves rise

I've nearly drowned in many seas
Gasping for air
As the waves crashed over me
I have never swam with her kind of ease

She draws me in deeper
I reluctantly swim further to reach her
There is so much to discover
In reefs where she is the keeper

If the myths are true
I don't stand a chance
Resisting following you
