Vision

Vision

A Poem by Destiny
"

A poem of hope

"
The tears sit just under my view
waiting to blur it
when the beauty or the horrors overwhelm me

But my vision, even if obscured,
doesn't require my eyes
Vision is not owned only by the sighted

It is held by the blind
and the wounded
and those who have been laid to rest

It is a torch, lighting the way
spread to the wicks of those who surround it.
It burns long after it's first ignition

The hope of this mission
is in those whose hearts are ignited
By the call of Love
By the call of Justice
By the call of Peace

And it can never be extinguished.

“It is held by the blind
and the wounded
and those who have been laid to rest”

I love these beautiful lines. To know is to see, and that seeing comes from something other then the surface level perceptions. Justice, and love, and peace are all things we long for because we know the suffering of injustice, life without love and life without peace.

I loved your poem because it's both true and beautiful. Your line "Vision is not owned only by the sighted" covers it all: we all have visions whether we know or not, it's represented by the way we live. Love, Justice and Peace are the vision of millions on this planet, even though it's ground under the heels of so many who subscribe to a different vision: power, money and possessions. You asked "What's your vision?" I have a poem posted here with the same title. It will answer the question.

Every word positive, peaceful, gentle, global, kind if not loving.

Your poem says what should already exist but tragically does not and seems never to have existed, which of course means that Humankind seems illiterate, ignorant, indifferent and creating its own demise!

If only...
