Custody

Custody

A Poem by Destiny
"

The difficulties of split custody

"

They say 50/50 makes one whole
But I don't think it's as simple as that
I see that it just leaves a hole
In your heart, in your hands, it falls flat

On the switch day

You are not a coin or dial or blind
Nothing switches it's side easily
And I'm sorry this is your story
Fridays may never come rhythmically
And even though this leaves a scar,
Know that I will never be far
Because nothing about my love is half
You carry me like a photograph
And I carry you like an oriole
Perched on my shoulder so I can see your smile
When you round the corner
And jump into my arms
I could never get used to that
