Missing

Missing

A Poem by Destiny
"

The pain of being separated from your child

"

I'm really lost
I should probably know how
To handle this by now
But the tears don't stop
And the lump in my throat
Pooled in my clavicle
And the pain settles into my muscles
And I can't catch my breath
And my stomach is tethered between my hip bones
And I woke up drenched in sweat
Looking for you

I don't know what I am if I'm not "mom"

Our invisible string
Is cutting the skin
Where it's dug into my heart
And I just need to hold my baby Lark
