The excitement of the night

The excitement of the night

A Poem by Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot

I walk with a stride down a busy street
Feeling the signs blink and the wind breeze through my hair
I walk the street without a worry or care
This is where all the people meet

I hear laughing and dancing from the local club
And feel the breath of the sweet Vampires on my neck
I know it's them, but don't even bother to check
Everyone's attention is focused on the hub

The smell of cheap perfume and Cigarettes is thick in the air
The night seems to be the only friend of mine
The Vampires strike and I feel a lovely chill down my spine
And the night flashes up in a flare

Really cool imagery. Especially with the inclusion of "vampires" (I'm assuming that they're females?). I only assume their femininity because I just finished reading Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' in which the vampire was a symbol of the "sexualized female in Victorian society". I digress.

Lovely poem!
