Chapter Eighteen: Once Upon A MoonA Chapter by Some Random Person.I walked up the rocks around me and went back to the hotel. I know
that I already checked out, but I like being at that hotel. I sat in the lobby,
picked up the news paper and started reading it. I got through the first
page when I noticed this dark figure in a black suit stop in front of me. He
turned towards me. I fold over the paper, and starred at the strange man.
"Yes?" I asked him wearily, as he was starring at me for at least a
minute. "You are Elizabeth Jacks?" The stange man asked. Shocked, I stood up, and ran to the corner, and entered the
shadows. I stopped, just short of disappearing, to ask the strange person,
"How do you know my name? Who the hell are you?" "All in good time, child," the man said. "Come,
walk with me." "And why should I do that?" I asked him. "Because if you don't, you'll die, and so will your friends.
Now, please, come now, Elizabeth." He said. "Why?" I asked again. "How do I know you're not
working for Gertinald? How do I know that you're not Gertinald himself?" I
asked. He sighed, and shook his head, sticking his hand in his jacket
pocket, and brought out a leather bound wallet sized thing, and opened it,
showing his credentials. I took a closer look, and saw F.B.I. paranormal crime
unit. "The PCU is a secret organization. Actually, we're not the F.B.I.
The FBI doesn't know about us. Like I said, secret. We've been plotting against
this man you call Gertinald for years, generations. Now, come with me, I've got
something to show you back at Base. Now, are you coming?" "Not until I do this," I said, and pointed my finger at
him, specifically his brain. I needed to read his mind to see if he was being
controlled, or if he was a double agent. "Your name is Fredderick Hearse,
and you're called Captain. You work for the PCU, like you said, and have a
team, a secret team, working all around the world. You need a new agent because
the last one was killed by Gertinald because he knew to much. Your dead agent's
name is Francine Jones. You had an affair with her." I lowered my finger,
and shut off the connecton. "Well, looks like you're telling the truth,
Fred," I said. "Fine, I'll go." "Don't you dare tell anyone about our affair,
Elizabeth," Fred said. "Yeah, whatever. So where is this base?" I asked. "Area 51." I opened my eyes. "That's what's there?" I asked. "I knew that there
was something the government wasn't telling us about there. I'll meet you
there, alright?" "No you won't. You won't be able to get through the gates.
The guards-" I cut him off. "What floor is your office in?" I asked. "The third underground floor. Why?" "Meet me there." I said, smiling, and walked into the
shadows and left him standing there. I appeared in a musty office with only one desk and a mirror on
the door. I waited for an hour, sitting in the chairs in front of the desk for
him to come round. Finally, he arrived, and was shocked to see me there waiting
for him. "H-how did you do that back there?" he asked me. "Don't you know about me already?" I asked him. "By about you, you mean that you're a werewolf?" I
nodded, and he continued, "Yes, I know about that. But I never knew that
werewolves can do that! I mean, all the werewolves we've
caught and destroyed, it makes me wonder why they never did that!" I shook my head. He obviously didn't understand the dynamics.
" Only a chosen few werewolves have the power of Shadow-travel. Elijah and
I are a few of the chosen. Gertinald is another, which is why he's been so hard
to catch. I also have the power to read minds when I want, as I've demonstrated
to you before. All werewolves have the power to communicate with each other,
but few can read the minds of mere Humans. For some reason, it's harder to read
their minds. There are other powers that each werewolf has specifically, but
I'm still considered young for a werewolf, so I don't know all of mine quite
yet. Some Wolves never age, some can light-travel instead of shadow-travel, and
some can read minds of animals, humans, aliens, and/or things. Some can move
the air, some can fly, some can hold their breath under water for days on end,
and some can move water, fire, air, or earth. You see, each werewolf is
different. And there's one more secret, we can't tell anyone about our powers.
It has to be a complete secret. So, I'm sorry, Fred, I'm really sorry, but I've
got to do this." I pointed to him and whipped his mind of everything I
just said. He calapsed and fell to the ground and I withdrew. I ran to him,
picked him up and put him in a chair. I took out a piece of paper, and wrote a
note to him.
I’m sorry I had to destroy your memory, Fred.
I have to. Now, if you could me find my friends Elijah Hawks
and Aisha Khan, then I’ll see what I
can do to restore what was
lost. They have to be safe and sound, alive, or
I’ll destroy it even more. Now, I
have to go. But before I do, Fred, take this
with you, and don’t show
anyone. It’ll make things even worse. Besides, if
that happens, then
I’ll have cause to kill you and the person who saw this. Again, I’m so
sorry for what happened, and what’s about to happen.
Now, do
the wise thing, and do what I ask for. If you don’t, it’ll just make
things worse. Oh, and I’ll help you by
giving off information about Gertinald for another
thing. I’ve seen him, fought him. You need help on fighting him,
and so do I. Now, come to me, Fred, join hands with me, and my
friends, and I’ll help you, if you’ll help
me. What do you say, Captain? P.S. Just
stick a piece of paper, with your answer on it, in the shadow underneath your
desk with my name on it. That is, Elizabeth Jacks. I looked up, and sighed. I leaned over Fred, and whispered,
"Find me, Captain Fred. Find me, if you need to, Captain." I put that
on top of everything and in his hand, where he'd have to notice it, and left
through the shadow in the corner. I shadow traveled to my bedroom in my dorm, happy, and sad. I have
no other place to go. I mean, sure, my grandparents would always let me stay a
night or two, or a few hundred nights, but there’s something going on, and I
really don’t want to involve them. I don’t want to be responsible for two
elderly people’s deaths. Sorry, yeah, two older people’s deaths. Not elderly.
No, never elderly. Right, getting off track again, aren’t I? I’m always doing
that. Right, off track again. So I sat in my dorm and thought. I was
just about asleep when I heard a thump and a piece of paper landing on my desk.
I snapped awake and ran to the table to check what it said. It read, Dear
Elizabeth, I have
thought about what you said. Well, wrote. What do you mean my memory’s gone? I
remember everything that happened. I work for the PCU. We all have a basic
training on psychic and disillusions, and mental disruptions. You haven’t
penetrated my mind at all. On the other hand, you do seem to have seem to put
me in a, sort of a trance, shall we say? I remember you saying something about
the special powers of werewolves, but I can’t remember the part about why you
were telling me that information. On the other hand, we’ve got the issue of
Gertinald. I may have a plan. It’s very dangerous, mind you, but it might work.
All our plans in the past have failed. Perhaps a new member will bring light
into the selection. I look forward to working with you, Elizabeth. Please
get back to me soon. Captain
Fred. I looked at his note, and sighed. Damn it all. He
did remember, maybe I don’t have the power to erase minds, after all. At least
I can still read his mind. Or maybe he’s faking it. All the same, I’ve got to
go. I need to help him catch Gertinald and save my friends, right? © 2012 Some Random Person.Author's Note
