Haylee, Missing?A Chapter by Some Random Person. So
I crept around back to find a back door, but found that there wasn't
any. There were a couple of kitchen windows, but didn't dare open them for fear
of making a noise. Then again, the doors may make a noise, but that'd be easier
to crawl into then a window. I might fall out of the window or something. Since there wasn't a
proper door, I climbed up to the roof and opened the trap door in there. I
don't know how I knew it'd be there, but there it was. I opened it as softly as
I could, and slipped inside the appeared to be the restroom. EW, I had to step
on the toilet seat to get down. Double gross. I knew there was a reason why I
knew there'd be a trap door on the roof. I opened the door as
slowly as possible, because I knew for sure this door sometimes creeks. This
time, thank God, it didn't. I crept out of the restroom, checked the
surroundings, and walked around the tables. The lights were off in the whole
cafe but the main room, where Haylee and Shelby were sitting. I tried to get into
Haylee's mind again, but still couldn't. Fine, Shelby, be like that! Because I couldn't get
into Haylee's mind, I sent a message to Elijah. I'm in, but I still can't get into her mind. Please
move your right hand to your knees if you can hear this. He did. That's good;
at least our messages were getting through to each other. Now, can you get into
her mind? Keep your right hand on your knee if yes, if no, moves your right
hand to your ear. I don't know why I
chose those signs, but they were easiest to mention, and I had to think fast.
He kept his hand on his knee. Good, I guess. Now, can you message
her to get up and go to my house? I want her there. Without Shelby, mention that.
Again, if yes, knee, no, ear, okay? Don't answer. Just do the signs. I don't
want a two-way conversation. He kept his hand on
his knee. Good. Good, you're doing
well. Can you message me what she's saying, thinking? Now you may message me. Good, I'm getting
tired of this one-way stuff. It gets annoying with you telling me what to do
without my input. Okay, I had to make
sure of some stuff. Now what'd she say? She's trying to get
up, but Shelby won't let her leave. Crap. Now we have to try a different
approach. Tell her to use the
restroom. Maybe Shelby’s leave her alone for a couple of minutes? She said she'd
try. Tell her there's a
trap door; tell her to go up in it. I want to meet her up there. Okay? Yeah, are still sure
that you can't get into her mind still? Yes. Nor Shelby's.
Now, is she going? Yes, but you'd better
move fast, Shelby's showing her where it is. Okay, okay. Closing
the door. I went back onto the top of the toilet, and
up the trap door. It was easier than I'd thought it'd be. I, then, closed the
trapdoor. A couple of seconds, maybe a half a minute later, I heard the door
open and close. "Elizabeth, where
are you? I thought Elijah said you were going to be here? Where are you?" Haylee whispered. "Shh. Don't make
a noise. I'm opening the door, get on top of the toilet and climb up,
alright?" I replied. "Okay." Then
I opened the trapdoor, and from the looks of it, I nearly scared about five or
ten years out of poor Haylee's life doing that. When I opened the door to the old
restroom, I expected either Elizabeth to come down and pull me in, or Shelby to
come inside with me. Why'd she have to show me to the bathroom? I told her I
already knew where it was, but she insisted. Neither happened. I
waited for about a minute, then whispered, "Where are you,
Elizabeth?" "Shh, don't make
a noise," then she said something about opening a trapdoor. A few seconds later, a
trapdoor opened right in front of me, and above the crapper. Nice place to put
it, don't you think? Ew, though, very gross. How could she stand it? Then,
which is much worse, she asked me to step onto the water closet, and join her
on the roof. Great, so now I have to escape from Shelby by climbing up the W.C.
latter. Nice, really nice. Fine, I
thought, be
that way. Did she have to be so
obvious? Then, what surprised me the most was who was behind her. Oh, come on,
can't a girl get at least a little privacy in at least the head? But no, she
had to come here. I'd bet she was going to slightly open the tap door and watch
me pee or poo. Ugh, no, a girl doesn't get any privacy in a small town. On the
Internet, local cafe, library, the John, school, oh, no, no privacy for me.
Never, don't you hear me? I barely get a little privacy. I especially can't get
any privacy in the werewolf area of town, which I guess this is, since Elijah
put me here. Though, I thought he was trying to keep me safe? Oh well,
sometimes my brother just doesn't think straight. Now, I'm about to be
kidnapped by a girl who is starting to annoy me. And Elizabeth's doing the
rescuing, though a very bad job at it. And where, in this
whole werewolf world, is my annoying big werewolf brother, Elijah? "Elizabeth, watch
out!" I screamed to Elizabeth. "I told you not
to-AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" She erupted into screams when Shelby clawed
her hair. With that excitement,
I unlocked the bathroom door quickly and abandoned Elizabeth. I only could hope
that she'd survive and fight off that monster. Only, now I regret that choice,
because when I tried to go out the front shop door, Gertinald, I think that's
his name, anyway, it is, right? Wait, sorry, I'm
getting off topic. That's me, a hyperactive kid. And, as Elizabeth sometimes
teased me, a blonde who always messed up everything. Again, off topic. Again,
I apologize. Alright, so, Gertinald
was in the kitchen and ran and shuffled past me towards the door. Crap. Now I'm
trapped. I think there's another door, in the kitchen, so I thought about going
that way. But as always, I was
tied up. And something distracted Gertinald. My brother, Elijah the Annoying,
slammed open the door which I was originally going to go out though. Okay, so
he's missing the fight on the roof to help me fight off Gerty here. Thanks, I
guess, Brother Annoying. "Why aren't you
helping Lizzie out there?" "Because she told
me to help you." "And," I
said between breathlessness and throughing kicks at Gerty, "you listen to
everything she says?" "Well, now I kind
of have no choice," he replied, "I should've listened to her more
before." "Since when do
you listen to anyone without second-guessing?" I sent him a questioning
look. "Well, like I
said before, this time is a need." "Still, there
were plenty of needing times when you needed to listen to me or mom." I
told him, aggravated that Elizabeth gets all his listening attention. "What," then
he swooped down, ducking Gertinald sucking teeth. Right now I could really have
a Percy Jackson knife or a wand from the Harry Potter series or something.
"Do you want?" I and Shelby fought
steadily, but it was very obvious to me that Shelby was a well trained black
belt and a werewolf. Down below the fight, where the trap door was, I
couldn't see Haylee anywhere. I decided I needed to get down there, if I can.
Shelby is a good fighter, unfortunately. She was also slightly winning. I decided to take a
quick duck and back flipped right in front of the trapdoor. I meant to land in
the actual restroom, but that would only work for a higher level of Gymnastics
than I'm used to. This was probably for the best. I then quickly
jumped down and slammed on top of the reserve. Good, I didn't land in the bowl.
I then quickly ran to the door and slammed it shut. Now it'll take Shelby a
little while to get through. Those few seconds could count for anything. It may
save our lives. I ran to the main part
of the cafe. There, I saw Elijah and Haylee fighting Gertinald. My archenemy
was here. That just makes things much better for me, don't you think? Gertinald was getting
messy and dangerous. He was mad, I could tell. With a kick towards Elijah, he flew
teeth first, towards Haylee. He's trying to turn Haylee into a vampire. That's
what he shape he was currently taking, so that's what she must take, I
guess. When he saw me, his
dark eyes turned to dark burgundy red eyes, flashed at me with deep
hatred and anger. He curled up his fingers into a tight fist and firmly threw
the fist towards Elijah, who ducked. As quickly as he brought the fist back to
his chest, he sent flying his elongated legs and tried to kick me, hard. I
jumped up and did a flip in mid air, kicking him in the face. Ooh, that looked
like it hurt. "Elizabeth Jacks,
you're challenging me, I take it?" He sneered at me, "Even
after what I did to you?" "What do you
think?" I scoffed back at him, "You're fighting my friends, and
therefore, you're already fighting me." "Be that as it
may," he replied, "but they're failing. And I have help." That was the last
straw, I guessed, for Elijah. He turned into a werewolf, then
replied, Wolfy, "Maybe, but at least we have something we're
protecting." At that comment,
Shelby walked in from the shadows. "Eh?" She replied, sneering at us,
"And what'd that be?" "If we told
you," I replied to her, "What purpose would that serve?" "Girl, what's your name?" She
asked me. I decided to give her a fake name,
maybe Sally or Jenny. No, "Emera." I said. "Well, Emera, I
would like to know what you're protecting!" Shelby said. Was she that
easily lied to? "Shel, Emera's
not her name," Crap. I hate Gertinald. "Elizabeth is." "Emera's my given
name. I absolutely hate it." I counteracted Gertinald correction. "Well, Emera,
Elizabeth, whatever your name is, I'm here to destroy your hopes of ever
protecting whatever you're protecting." "Well, Shelby,
that's why I'm never going to tell you what we're protecting." Then I
threw a kick and fist sequence that's been only used by me. I made it up, and
it's always been a winner for me. I wonder why I haven't used it against her? I ended up kicking her
where her hand was only minimally protecting, her stomach. And
then she creased and bent down to show the top of her head, which is where my
fists ended up. Both of them. Then, to make sure she didn't get up for a while,
I kicked her face. She fell,
instantly. I turned to Gertinald,
and said, "Where's your help now?" Gerty ran towards her,
and picked her up. Wow, was he really that soft on her? "You may win this
time, but mark my words, the next time we meet, you're dead meat." And
with that, he changed to a dead night bat and flew away with Shelby. "Wow..."
Haylee starred at the door through which Gertinald flew off in. "That
was weird." "You got that
right." We finally went home, after what seemed
like hours of fighting. It was definitely dark. I don't like being in
town after this late, but that's how it was. "I don't know
about this," I said. "About
what?" Elijah and Elizabeth said at the same time. See, they're perfect
for each other, don't you think? Though, people have been trying to get them
together for, like, my whole life. And Nathan's of course. "Going
home," I said, avoiding Elizabeth's eyes. "I thought you
wanted to go home?" She asked. "I do," I
covered, "But something seems like we shouldn't go home. I don't know,
it's just a hunch, and my hunches are usually misleading." They looked at each
other. That can't be a good sign. It usually meant that they were communicating
non-verbally. Did I mention that I hate that? I mean, really hate it? Elizabeth saw my
frustration before my annoying werewolf brother did. "Sorry," she
told me, "It's just that sometimes it's not that safe to talk about things
to you, or out loud." "Meaning?" I
questioned. "Meaning there
might be eavesdroppers around us," Elijah looked strangely at me. "And..." I
left open. "And we don't necessarily
want other people to know about certain things." Elizabeth was getting
more uncomfortable. She shifted her feet. "We should probably get
going." "Yeah, we
probably should," my brother agreed with her. "Haylee, climb on my
back." "Why?" I
questioned. "Because, it's
going to be a long night," he slowly told me. Then, with a look at me, he
added, "and you don't have a choice either." I looked down to the
dark red paved bricks and grumbled, "Fine." Then, I hopped on his
back and we took off. __*@*__ She finally agreed and
hoped on my back. Painfully, she actually jumped on my back, hard. After I got
over the prickly pain on my back, I started running towards the highway.
Elizabeth was screaming in my head, What the F**k, Elijah? What do you mean WTF? Why are you taking the
high way? Because it'll be where
there's lights and we can see in the shadows. So? It's a bit safer during the streets in town rather
where the cars are always threatening to run you over. Okay, Miss Safety Werewolf. You have Haylee on your back
too. We finally agreed, and went on the
highway. I really wish we really didn't, but that's out of my hands. It pretty
much freaked out Haylee a lot, which was understandable. Cars were constantly
honking at us and drivers were shouting words to us like, "Get off the
road!" or "I'm calling the cops!" or "Why are you
kidnapping that girl?" Sometimes their language was much worse. When we got home, with
two tired werewolves and a sleeping girl, every step we took seemed like a mile
of running. "See ya
tomorrow?" Elijah asked me. Haylee was still sleeping on his back. "Hopefully,
yeah." I replied. "Goodnight,
then," he said, clearly wanting to close his eyes. He was so sleepy, I
could see it. I turned around and
went to the back of the house, but then, I stopped in my tracks.
"Wait," I called out to him. "What?" He
asked sleepily. "Call me if
something happens," I said hurriedly, "Please." I added. Then I
sent him, we
need to make sure that Haylee stays a normal human. What do you
mean? You know exactly what
I mean. You know she's far
from normal. Not like we are. Now
stay in that house when you get in. Call me if any trouble comes. Okay, fine. Night. Night. Then I went to my
window and slid in hurriedly. I walked around to my bedroom door and went to
get the dogs. When I went into the living room to get them, my grandparents
scolded me. "Where have you
been?" "In my
room," I lied. "I was on the other side of the far bed. Was I that
good at hiding?" "Yes.
Apparently." my grandmother replied. Then I reached down to pick up their
dog Tiberius, and took him to my room. "Night,
Grandma." I said before I shut my bedroom door. "Don't tell me
you can talk to me." I told Tiberius. "Actually, now I
can." I nearly screamed. "You weren't there, I know." "Why do you think
that?" I asked, suspiciously. "Because I looked
there. You weren't there." Tiberius said. "Okay, so you
know that I wasn't in this house. What else is new?" I replied. "Well, where were
you?" he asked. Why do you want to
know? I tested him. Because I need to know
where everyone in this household goes. I'm the guard dog, so to speak. Okay, I was fighting
Gertinald. Who's Gertinald? An evil werewolf who
keeps going after me and my friends across the street. You mean Haylee,
Elijah, and Nate? Well, the possible
exception of Nathan, but yes. Ah, I see. Yes, now settle down
and please go to sleep. Why? Because I've had a long
day and I really would like to sleep. If you want any help
with things, or need it, be sure to tell me. Yeah? What'd you be
able to do? You're just a small lap dog. Looks can be
misleading. He
looked at the bed. And calmed down. I got in bed and turned off the lamp. Then
I starred for about a minute then fell asleep, wondering what he meant. © 2011 Some Random Person.Author's Note
