More Danger

More Danger

A Chapter by Some Random Person.

When Elizabeth opened the bag, a surprise was seen. "Who is this guy?" I asked stupidly. I think she knew who he was. And she probably isn't happy about seeing this. "Who is it, Elizabeth?" I asked again.

"Haylee, meet Gertinald. Gertinald, if you were alive, you'd meet Haylee." Gertinald? Where had I heard that name?

At my puzzled look, Elizabeth answered my question. "Gertinald, the werewolf who turned me. Hales, remember? Remember the 2a.m. visit in your room last night?" Did I mention that I hate that nickname?

"Yes... But I didn't remember the name you said. So this guy's a werewolf?" I changed the subject.

"Yes. A very bad one at that. He's cruel and vile. I saw him alive last night... I wonder how long he's been dead." She said. The last part was probably supposed to be under her breath... Probably.

"Okay...Wait; he's who you were talking about?" I asked her again.

"Yes. Where have you been for the last couple of minutes?" She asked me. Uh... In my own mind. Duh.

"I don't know. Here, in this junkyard." I replied, sarcastically, waving my hand towards the homeless stuff.

"Why don't you call your home and see if Nathan returned?" Elizabeth implied toward Elijah, taking out her blue, touch-screen-like phone and handed it to him.

Elijah started dialing the number of our house when he looked toward Elizabeth, sideways. What was happening? I could tell that they're chatting silently, but I have no idea about what. He looked back at the phone and started again dialing.

When Elizabeth handed the phone to me, and I started dialing our phone number. When I got to the 6th or 7th number in our phone number, I saw something move in the swaying in the wind. I looked up at Elizabeth and sent in our mind talk thingy, Did you see that?

Yes, now keep dialing. We can't be obvious.

What'd ya mean by we can't be obvious?

I mean that Gertinald was in that crime bag.

And? Your point being?

Well, we've got a non-werewolf around.

Get to the point!

Haylee, you idiot!

And? What about her?

Something doesn't add up.

Okay, you're just now realizing this?

No, not really.

Then what's your point?

My point is that you have to get her out of here. Elizabeth replied, finally.

What'd ya mean? I asked her, unsure of what the answer may contain.

I mean that we must protect her. We must not let her become like us, no matter what. She replied, suspiciously secretive. She wasn't telling me something. Something, I had a feeling that was very important. Like why Gertinald body was in the bag. Maybe something like that.

Okay. I agree with that. But what are you hiding? Something's wrong, I can tell. I told her, kicking myself for being so upfront. She'd never let up!

I'm sorry. I can't tell you here. Not here, not now. Take her somewhere, somewhere safe. Just not home. Do not take her anywhere near home. Go to someplace else, someplace public.

Okay, where do you suggest? I asked her, not sure of the answer she'd give.

I don't know. I can't tell. Now go. Now. Take her somewhere away, I'll be fine. Do not even think about coming back here, and do not leave her alone!

Okay, okay! I'll get her. I told her, giving back her phone.

She shoved it back to me saying, I'll talk to you in other ways. Keep my phone. Just go. Now.

I nodded and stuck the phone into my pocket and ran. I ran toward Haylee and grabbed her arm then keep running. I don't think she liked it, but who cared? We needed to get her out of here, and quickly. I needed to get Haylee someplace safe, someplace far. Perhaps a place that was crowded? We ran off the Avenue and onto Washington. Then from Washington, we turned left onto Main St. We went downtown on Main St. We came to a stop sign on Broadway St. and turned onto Broadway. We went up it until we reached the Broadway Cafe, then parked our bikes and went in. I bought Haylee a drink and a pastry.

"I have to help her, Haylee. She's in trouble; I just don't know what kind of trouble yet..." I said to Haylee, trailing off into thought. I needed to get out. "Stay away from windows, and blend into the crowd." I told her. "I'll come back. Don't leave until I come. Do nothing. Just say that you're waiting for someone if anybody asks you, okay?" I didn't wait for an answer; I just left her there, nursing her cola down.

I left Haylee at the Cafe on Broadway so that I can help Elizabeth with whatever that shadowy moving when I had left her. I bought her a drink and a pastry so that she won't look too weird. "Do not go anywhere until I return. If someone asks you to move, just say that you're waiting on someone. Or make an excuse. Just don't get up or move from this spot. I'll be back as soon as I can." I said to her, and then left, with the door slinging shut with a bell ringing. I ran as fast as I could down the streets and back to the plot of land that we were previously at.

When I got there, there were a bunch of strange homeless hippies on there. They wore brightly colored tie-dye tee shirts, with blue or green Bermuda shorts. There were about 4 females and 3 males. 2 of the females and 1 of the males were children-younger than I or Nathan.

I ran past them and to the black crime scene bag we previously looked at. It was coldly unzipped and empty. Gertinald body wasn't there, nor was anyone else's.

Where are you Lizzie? I half asked, half sent. Who knows, maybe she'll answer. If Gertinald not in the bag, then where is he? Was he even dead in the first place? He probably wasn't dead, just pretending to be dead. But how? He had no pulse or beat of a heart. I know, I felt his neck and wrist and his chest. Nothing was beating. He's a werewolf, but what if he's also something else? He talked with an odd old accent too... Something's different about him. But just what he might be... I just don't know. Does that mean that Elizabeth's different too, since he bit her? So many questions, so little time and answers.

Oh, Elizabeth! Where in the world are you?

___*@*___

He just left. Left me in the coffee shop. I couldn't go near the windows, and I can't go anywhere. I was waiting for my brother. Elizabeth better be quick. I hope he finds her and helps her as quickly as possible. I don't want to raise suspicion about why I, a 15 year old girl, is sitting in a cafe alone. I hope he comes quickly. It's just a high hope, but a girl can always hope, right?

"Do you want anything else?" Asked my waitress. She looked like a blonde girl, about college age. She must be around 24 years old or so. She had on blue metal glasses and lots of freckles on her rosy red cheeks. She wore eye shadow too, dark brown to be specific. She had on eyeliner, thickly applied too. She wore her work uniform-like all the staff here.

"No thanks. I'll just wait until he comes back," I replied, not sure that he is coming back.

She sat down, talking to me. I noticed she had blue eyes too. "Who was that who left you?"

"Oh... Yeah, that's my brother. He had some things to take care of before he could come back. Why do you ask?" I told her, not sure of what my last question's answer was going to be.

"Oh, I don't know. How old is he?" She asked. Hmmm. I wonder why she's asking so many questions about Elijah. I smell something fishy in this conversation...

"Almost 18. Why?" I asked with a sideways look toward her. Still fishy...

"Oh..." She hesitated, "Nothing. So how long will you wait for him?"

"I don't know yet. Whenever he's done, I guess." I replied.

"Oh..." She hesitated, again, but this time looking a bit sadder. “So how old are ya?"

Should I reply to her? I mean, she works at this restaurant, so I guess, but still... "15" replied to her.

"Oh, really?

"Yes. I have a younger brother too. We're all 3 years apart." I told her. I decided to trust her, even if Elijah said not to say anything to anyone. She seams nice and trustworthy.

Once Elijah took Haylee out and ran away without me, I knew that he was coming back. Even though I specifically told him not to, I knew he was coming back. I knew he'd probably leave Haylee at someplace public, someplace crowded with loads and loads of people. He'd probably go downtown to one of those shops, or put her at one of her friend’s houses. I just hoped they didn't go home. Anywhere but here and there. I just hope they're safe.

Once they left, something moved in the bothersome bag. Yes, I am very sure of it. Something, or someone, moved in that troublesome bag. Then, when they were surely out of range, the vexatious bag unzipped itself and moved even more. Oh great, something, or maybe someone, is coming out of that bag. And when I was sure that I couldn't be freaked out anymore, Gertinald came jumping out of that bag! How was this possible? Elijah said that he had no pulse, no heartbeat! He was definitely dead, no question about it. But that doesn't explain why he's here, coming closer to the shell-shocked me. Holy Crap, he moved fast.

Then it hit me. Maybe, just maybe he was already dead, that he didn't need to have a beat. Maybe he's a living dead or something, though that seemed out of the question. But he's definitely odd. And old. Who known’s his actual age? But maybe, just maybe, he's different than the rest of us werewolves.

It was almost dark, and Elijah still hadn't come back for me. The Cafe on Broadway was about to close, but Shelby was still here. She said she'd wait until he comes back, even though I told her that it'd probably be a long time. Like past midnight. She asked why I wouldn't go home and I told her it was because I'm not supposed to.

"What do you mean you're not supposed to?' Shelby asked me.

"I mean that I'm supposed to be with my brother, and if I come home without him, they'd ask questions which I can't answer." I told her. It was true, but I couldn't tell her why I couldn't answer the questions. That was out of the question.

"Oh." She said, disappointingly. "Do you know when he's coming back?" She asked, again. This was like the 100th time she's asked me that.

"I told you, I don't know. I have not a clue what he's doing and when he's coming back." I replied back. It was partly true. I didn't know what he's doing other than trying to help Elizabeth, and I definitely had no clue of when he was coming back.

"I just can't go home leaving you here by yourself." Shelby said to me. Oh, sometimes I hated those people who are always thinking for me instead of themselves. "I'll stay with you."

"Okay, but he's a mess. Just to let you know." I told her, jokingly. I'm not sure if she got it though...

"I'm still staying with you." She said.

Fine. Be like that. I was only warning you! I thought to myself. Elijah, Lizzie, where the heck are you? Get your werewolf butts back here now! I hope that they heard me.

Gertinald was faster than any human- or werewolf alive. He was almost as fast as the speed of light, if that was possible. It was dusk by now, so it was time to go home, but I couldn't. As the last ray of sunlight came down to the edge of the visible earth, Gertinald slashed at me.

Holy Crap! I thought. I didn't know that he would ever slash at me. Elijah! Get your wolf self over here you Wolf! I couldn't help but feel like screaming in my mind.

What is it? Where the heck are you anyways? He finally sent back.

In the garage of the lot, smart one! I screamed in my head.

OK. Be there in a couple of- He broke off as he came in. He didn't see anyone but me apparently. His face was so blank. When he reached a bit closer, Gertinald came out of the raging shadows in the room and slashed right at Eli. Now I really wanted to kill him.

"What do you think you're doing, investigating my body in that bag?" Gertinald rudely asked us. Is that what this was all about?

"We're trying to find Nathan you creep!" I screamed out at him even though I knew that he was going to kill me soon. I should be quiet.

"Shut it you girl!" He yelled at me. He turned to Elijah. "As for you, Elijah Hawks, get out or see what happens to your good friend!"

Elijah, I'm unhappy to say, scampered out of there as quickly as possible. But he was still in my mind.

"What the heck were you thinking?" He asked me, yet again.

"I needed help, and you weren't giving it to me. I need to find that boy." I replied quickly. "He's my friend's brother. I have a responsibility toward him." I covered quickly.

"Well, isn't that just too bad?" He sneered an ugly sneer at me. I smirked back at him.

"Get me loose now, or I'll tell him to call the cops!" I screamed wholeheartedly at him.

"Oh, is that true?" He smirked sarcastically at me.

"Untie me NOW!" I shouted as loud as possible. Surely Eli heard.

What's he doing to you?

You don't want to know.

Tell me now or I'm coming in!

No! Stay out. If anything, call the cops.

Forget the cops.

No. Don't come in.

Why? What's so bad that you don't want me in there?

I don't want you to see what's happening. Just call them already!

Fine, but I'm still coming in!

No you are not!

Yes I am. Now stay good for them.

What's that supposed to mean?

It means that I'm coming in.

No! Call the cops!

Forget them. I'm coming in!

Fine, come in, just don't act surprised. I did warn you. Then he came in. I hated it when he did stuff that I didn't want him to do.

When he saw me, he ran toward Gertinald and slashed at him. I swear, if Gertinald didn't move so quickly, he'd be dead right now.

____*@*____

15 minutes earlier:

Before Elijah came into the room, before it was nearly dark, Gertinald was getting seriously messy with Elizabeth. He bit her several times, raped her and nearly killed her several times, over and over again.

There was blood all over the place, and she was naked. He had stripped her of all her clothing except the underneath ones. She screamed and hollered, but no one came to her rescue, or even hears her cries of help.

She was dying, Elizabeth was sure of it. She'd die, and Gertinald would bury her and wait for her to arise in the grave site. She'd be a werewolf-vampire hybrid, like he was. Only Gertinald stronger and a Warlock, which is why Elizabeth couldn't receive messages in her mind from her werewolf friends.

Gertinald original mother, Eve was a Fairy-Warlock hybrid. She had a lot of magic and had a huge love, the bloodiest but friendly Vampire, Dracula. Dracula was a worldwide deadly vampire which legends were made about him in his "afterlife years." Eve and Dracula were the first paranormals on the planet Earth. They had 90 children, 13 of which also became Dracula's wives. Eve and Dracula became known as the Para Couple, and after so many deaths, they became the only ones on Earth. After they'd been married for 10,000 years, Dracula changed his name to Adam, and his story has been told ever since.

Gertinald inherited his father's vampirism and his mother's warlock magic. He also inherited Dracula's love for other beings. Gertinald married a werewolf, Lilith. Lilith and Gertinald started the race of common werewolves when Lilith bit him and Gertinald then turned into what we call a Quad paranormal. So if Gertinald bites anyone, then whatever change he's in at that time, that human becomes.

"I said don't call them!" Elizabeth yelled at me when I picked up the phone.

"Why? It's a bad thing done. It'll be good for you to seek attention from them!" I yelled back. I don't know why I yelled; she was just rapped, so she had a reason to be yelling, but me? I didn't.

"NO!" This time she screamed, "I can't have them look at me. If they take Gertinald, then they'll find out about his..." She faltered. Oh great. Maybe she's come to love him? I hope not. "About him being a werewolf." She finished, uncertainly. "No, I am not!" She screamed at me.

"Of course you are. Why else would you shield him? He freaking bit you, and now," I paused trying to calm down, but not succeeding. "Now, he's rapped you! I'm calling the police. No matter what, you are now a victim."

__*@*__

An hour later, and we were still fighting. Elizabeth cleaned herself up, at least. We went back to the house, but before we turned onto our street, I remembered my little sister probably still there where I left her. So I turned around quickly and grabbed Elizabeth's arm and started running fast. She yelped in sudden pain, but regained herself quickly and started running.

"I forgot about Haylee. She's at-" She interrupted me.

"You forgot about her? How can you forget about your sister?" she screamed at me. I didn't know she can yell that loud. We were running on the highway, people were honking at us.

"I don't know Elizabeth, I just don't know." I tried to look at her in the eye, but found that every time I tried, a car would just run up close to me and swivel away. It drives me crazy.

"Well, you should've done what I told you to do, and not leave her!" she yelled at me. Somehow I knew she would do that.

"Well I didn't like the idea of you perhaps getting killed in action. I came to help you, but apparently I wasn't wanted." I said, and right as it left my mouth, I regretted it. I wish that I can take words back. I can't control my anger very well, I've noticed. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said that." I apologized quickly.

"You should be. And thanks for trying to help me, but I was trying to protect you and Haylee. We're fine, but she's still a regular human who can easily be killed. What you just did was irresponsible. Your mother, yes, I means Kara, would be very mad at you if she were to find out about this." she scolded me.

And I knew that too. I deserved to be scolded.

But being scolded doesn't help the problem, does it?

After being honked and yelled at by many people, including Elizabeth, I was almost ready to burst and through a motorcycle across the highway. But of course, I didn't. I need to control my anger, right?

Well, it took about an hour or so, but we finally got to downtown. If we'd gone through the back roads, we'd been there in less than 15 minutes. But Elizabeth was too scared to go anywhere with many trees. Huh, I thought that she'd be happier to get there faster, but okay.

"Where did you leave her?" Elizabeth asked, obviously tired and aggravated.

"At Cafe on Broadway." I replied, very annoyed.

"Why'd you leave her there? You know they close at 10 p.m!" Again, she's aggravated.

"I thought we'd be done by then, and we'd get her way before dark, but I couldn't find you, and when I did finally find you, you were in more trouble than I had expected." I hurriedly tried to explain myself.

"Well, couldn't you have gone somewhere safer than that place? Or drop her off at a place that a friend of your family owns?" She asked. The truth was, I didn't even know where our friends lived. I didn't think it was that much important to anything. My mother always drove us to their place. I never drove. So there wasn't any reason to go there.

"No, I don't know where they live." I said, biting my tongue. I should have come up with a better excuse, but there it was.

"Ugh! Still, you could've gone to that place where you play baseball," she said, obviously running out of options.

"She hates it there." I argued. "Besides, it was a public place, why would anyone attack a girl publicly? It would stir up a fight, and get police get out there." I told her.

We turned onto Broadway Rd. and ran straight towards the Cafe on Broadway. That's when I looked all around and saw that it was a big mistake. I shouldn't have brought her here; I should have brought her to her school. Then again, it would've been easy to get to her, if that's what the enemy was.

We ran right up to the shop and saw that she was doing one thing I told her not to, talk to anyone.

We ran up to the door, but it was locked. The person who was with my sister hadn't noticed us yet, but as always, it is only for now. And as always, especially when there's trouble lurking around the corner, there's always a 'but'. And every time there's a 'but,' there's always trouble, as I said before, lurking around the corner.

Since the door was unlocked, I telepathically sent Lizzie a message saying, what do we do now?

I don't know. How about going around back?

Okay, you stay here, I'll go around and see if there's another entrance to this place.

Hurry, I don't like this person.

Why?

Just the way she's talking, she looks like she has something to worry about being found out.

It's probably just a feeling.

No, Elijah, remember Nathan when I say this, She's trouble. She's hiding something.

Lizzie-

Don't call me that.

Why?

Just don't.

Okay, but listen to me, Elizabeth.

Especially when I'm mad.

OKAY! I understand, now can you stop bugging me about it? It's just a nickname.

You know how much I hate my nicknames!

Okay, fine. Still, listen to me.

Okay, Elijah, I'm listening.

I know you're just thinking it's just something about her right?

Yes...

Well, can't you read Haylee's mind?

Well, actually no. I'm trying though. I can't get in.

That's odd. Well, I can, and according to Haylee, the girl in question's name is Shelby.

And that's supposed to help.... How?

Well, I'm trying to get into Shelby's mind, but something's blocking me from her mind.

How's that supposed to help?

Well, what if Shelby's a werewolf and is blocking my sister's mind towards you and her mind's blocked by both of us?

I still don't see how this helps.

Why don't you? It makes a great deal of difference. If she's a werewolf, then she's possibly with Gertinald and his evil friends.

Now you're making sense. Fine, you know what, you stay here and see if you can hear their conversation and tell me what they're saying.

And what'd you do?

Try to find ourselves a way in.

I don't like the sound of this, but I don't have a better plan.

So we're going with my plan, right?

Yes. But as I've said before, I don't like the sound of it.

Sorry to say this, but we've got nothing better to do.

Yes, you're right.

Oh, and this may be the last time to send me anything.

What'd you mean?

I mean if she's like Gertinald, then maybe, just maybe she can either a. read our minds, b. block our minds, or c. both.

Yeah, you're right. I don't like it though.

Nor do I, but this is the only the reason why I told you to stay with her.

Again with the nagging?

Stop talking to me! Listen to them. I'll come back here when I've found us a way in.

Okay. Fine. Have I mentioned that I have a bad feeling about this?

Not in that sense, but you did say that you don't like it.

Okay, okay. Just how a howl if you need something.

If that makes you a bit happier.

It would.

Then fine. I'll howl if trouble comes. If I can.

Meaning? Okay fine, just go!
