As we were sitting in silence, I
thought constantly what Shelby and Gertinald were doing. They were really
ruining my life one day at a time. I’m not the only one who’s life is being
ruined either. They get to live a million years and don’t care what happen to
the other people.
Elijah cleared his throat and
made me jump back into the world. “Can I ask you a question?” Elijah asks me.
“Last time you asked that, we
nearly got clawed to death. What is it?” I asked.
“Can I- Will you- OH COME ON!” He
shouted, looking beyond my shoulder. I followed his gaze and saw Shelby and
Gertinald running towards us. Crap. Why won’t they just leave me alone?
I pushed
Elijah off his chair and ran away from the place we were sitting and ran for
our lives. He changed, but I stayed in Human form. I hated changing nowadays.
It reminds me that I’m an animal, and as much as I love animals, I don’t want
to become one, if that makes sence. Why is it that every time Elijah asks “Can
I ask you a question,” Gertinald and Shelby jump in and we run?
As soon as
we stopped running, and Elijah turns back, he tries again. “Will you go-“
BEEP! A car honks behind him,
interrupting him and making it impossible for me to hear. This is really
getting old.
“Try again,” I suggest.
“Will you go-“
Again, he’s interrupted by a van
driving way too fast past us.
“Maybe later?” I ask. I’m tired of
these interruptions.
“Yeah, that might be better,” Elijah
replies as we walk back home. During the walk home, we talked about random
things. It was like being with Ayesha and my sister. Everything that pops into their
heads comes out in their mouths. When we got their beige house with a read door
and white trim, we saw that Haylee and Nathan were waiting impatiently for us.
“Where the heck were you two?”
Haylee asks as we stepped onto the porch.
“Did you ask her yet?” Nathan
nearly interrupted Haylee.
“Never mind where we were, and no.”
Elijah replies. I sent him a questioning look. He shook his head. “Let’s go in.”
He walked towards the door and opened it wide enough for us to enter. Haylee
and I followed him, followed by Nathan, who closed the door.
“Shelby and Gertinald came around
again,” I told the Humans.
“Way to state so obviously,” Elijah
replied under his breath.
“Wait, were you going to ask-“
Elijah interrupted Haylee. What is it with this family and interruptions?
“Yes, but every time I tried,
something interrupted me, or they came bursting in!” Elijah let out a stressed
sigh.
“Okay, well, Nathan and I are going
to go see if we can watch Shelby and Gertinald,” Haylee got up and left the
room. When they left, Elijah looked around, outside the windows and under the
tables of the Den.
“How about now?” He asks.
I sighed, and replied, “What? Oh,
um, what did you want to ask me?”
“Will
you-OHHOLYSHITOFF***WHATTHEH***ARETHEYDOING?” I look outside the window and see
Haylee and Nathan tossing rocks at the couple making out. I assumed they were Shelby and Gertinald. Wait-They’re
making out? I looked away quickly and ran out the door to try to stop Haylee
and Nathan from hitting them. That would only make them mad and angry, maybe
make them kill us or something.
As soon as I ran out and towards
Haylee, I heard a door slam behind me. I kept running until I tackled Haylee
and kicked the rocks into the ditch. I then stole a glance at the couple, and
noticed that they actually were Gertinald and Shelby. Ew… These kids do NOT
need to see this. I yelled at Nathan to go inside, and we all trouped in. As
soon as I stepped inside, Haylee burst out laughing, and at the looks she received
from Elijah and I, burst out laughing even more. “YOU-GUYS-ARE-SO-CUTE-TOGETHER!”
She said in between laughs.
“Um…” I replied, shifting my
glances between Elijah and Haylee. What the hell is she talking about?
“STOP-DENYING-IT-ELIZABETH!” Haylee
yelled-laughed. “YOU-TWO-SO-LIKE-EACH-OTHER!”
“Uh…” I couldn’t say anything. I
was too shocked and annoyed to say anything.
Finally, Elijah saved me. “Stop it,
Haylee. Go away and don’t do anything stupid!” Elijah called after Haylee.
“Who said I did stupid things?”
Haylee asked. “ELIJAHANDELIZABETH-“ Haylee started to sing that elementary thing.
“Shut up and leave!” Elijah yelled.
She finally did as she was told. He was quiet for about fifteen minutes after
they left the room, then he cleared his throat. “Will you go out with me
sometime?” He blurted out. So that was the question, eh?
